Richmond Rod & Gun Club Making Shooting Fun!

Welcome to the Richmond Rod & Gun Club (RRGC), the premier action shooting sports range in the San Francisco Bay Area! Whether you’re a seasoned competitor or new to action shooting, RRGC offers a variety of exciting opportunities to hone your skills and compete in safe, well-organized events.

Membership and Access

All open hours activities at the Pistol/Rifle, Skeet & Trap, and Action ranges are exclusively for members. Members (Regular, Life, or Associate) may bring accompanied guests to the ranges. Matches like USPSA, BARC, and others are open to both members and non-members.

 

To become a member at RRGC, you must complete an application and meet the membership requirements. Membership grants access to all activities and discounts for matches.

Intro to Competition Class

This mandatory class for new shooters ensures safety and preparedness for action shooting at RRGC.

  • Requirements: Familiarity with handguns, 1,000+ rounds through the competition pistol, and essential shooting skills.

  • Equipment: A safe, operable pistol; protective gear; a proper holster; magazine pouches; and 150 rounds of ammo.

  • What You’ll Learn: Safety protocols, equipment requirements, and action shooting fundamentals.

The class includes classroom instruction and range practice. Participants gain permission to join RRGC action events upon successful completion.

USPSA - United States Practical Shooting Association

USPSA is a fast-paced action shooting sport combining accuracy, power, and speed. RRGC is the West Coast’s largest USPSA club, hosting bi-monthly matches and practice sessions.

  • Matches: Held on the 1st and 3rd weekends of each month. Saturday features a builder’s match at 11 AM, and Sunday hosts the main match starting at 9 AM. Register Here for USPSA Matches

  • Practice: Non-match Saturdays, from 9:30 AM to 1 PM.

  • Fees: $21 for members, $30 for non-members. Juniors (under 18) shoot for free.

All shooters must have a USPSA or IDPA classification, complete the RRGC Intro to Competition Class, or have verifiable action shooting experience. New competitors must send a verification email to uspsa@richmondrodandgun.com before their first match.

Multigun

Multigun matches challenge competitors to use handguns, rifles, and shotguns in various stages.

  • Matches: Several United Multigun League (UML) matches are hosted annually, with stages up to 200 yards. Register Here for Multigun Matches

  • Divisions: Open, Limited, Optic, Heavy, 2-Gun, PCC Only, and 2x4.

  • Practice: Saturday practice sessions are available for approved participants. Guns must be bagged/un-bagged in designated areas.

New shooters must complete the Intro to Competition Class or equivalent training and be checked off by the Multigun Director.

IDPA – International Defensive Pistol Association

IDPA focuses on practical handguns and real-world self-defense scenarios, emphasizing skill and accuracy.

  • Matches: Held every other month. Register Here for IDPA Matches

  • Fees: $21 for members, $30 for non-members.

  • Divisions: CCP, CDP, ESP, REV, SSP, BUG, PCC.

Competitors must have an IDPA or USPSA classification, complete the RRGC Intro to Competition Class, or have verifiable action shooting experience.

Steel Challenge

The Steel Challenge is ideal for beginners and seasoned shooters, focusing on speed and accuracy with steel targets.

Safety Rules: Holster and equipment rules apply. First-time competitors should seek guidance from a Range Officer.

Cowboy Action Shooting

Cowboy Action Shooting celebrates the Old West with single-action revolvers, lever-action rifles, and period attire.

  • Matches: Held on the 2nd Sunday of February, April, June, August, October, and December.

  • Practice: Held on the 2nd Saturday of odd-numbered months.

Night Match

Night Matches add the challenge of shooting in darkness with weapon-mounted lights and lasers.

  • Requirements: Minimum of 4–5 matches under USPSA, IDPA, or UML safety rules.

  • Divisions: Pistol (Open) and PCC.

  • Equipment: Red dot optics, weapon lights, clear eye protection, and amplified hearing protection recommended.

Advanced Training Classes

RRGC hosts advanced courses led by top instructors to refine shooting skills and strategies.
